What do I mean by rare breed?

Some freelance writers can give you snappy, pithy copy—your digital and print ads, blog posts, social campaigns and billboards.

Some can conduct the research and interviews to produce incisive articles and reports, or be trusted with ghostwriting a company leader’s guest column.

Some can turn a creative brief into a soaring brand manifesto, then collaborate with a designer to create a website that fleshes out the full story.

Some can transform a jargon-packed document written by six different division heads into a compelling, readable plan.

But few writers can do all of those things — on deadline.

I can (hence, rare breed). I can work alone and with all kinds of people—from exacting clients to reluctant sources to quirky creatives. And I work fast.

There’s more.

I’ve earned my writing chops in three states, at two of the nation's best newspapers (The Oregonian, the Tampa Bay Times), with freelance clients, and working with a talented agency team.

Since 2009, I've been a freelance writer and editor, content creator and strategist, and media relations specialist for a diverse mix of companies and organizations.

Off the clock, I love reading, running, writing essays, seeing live music (pre-COVID, and again soon, I hope), learning how to be a better writer at The Attic in Southeast Portland, and listening to sad (and well-written) country songs.
